There are several scenarios where this will be helpful. For the students seeking an A.S. degree in Biotechnology Laboratory Technician program (BIOT-AS), often a student leaves the A.S. program without completing the degree. This is for numerous reasons, such as financial issues or because they go straight to a job and do not complete an internship. In that case they do not have any way, besides their transcript, to show that they did all the work to learn the skills needed in the field of Biotechnology.
\n\nHaving this CCC as an option may give students the opportunity to earn a certificate on their way to their degree. And this certificate may draw more students into the Biotechnology-specific courses.
\n\nCertification: Students that complete this CCC would be strong candidates for the Biotechnology Assistant Credential Exam (BACE), which is taken by the BIOT-A.S. students near the end of their program.
